Resume for First Job - Find Out Why You Want the Job
Resume for First Job - Find Out Why You Want the JobIf you have been unemployed for a long time, you might be looking at a new job in the near future and your resume is running out of room to call attention to yourself. What can you do to squeeze a bit more info onto your resume for the first job?Consider first what your life was like before you got laid off, and what might you have done differently if you knew what was going to happen to your life just before you lost your job? Try to think back as far as you can and go back over your whole life. Most people don't know that they've done nothing different in their life than they did before they lost their job. This might be true, and it could be that it doesn't matter whether you're thinking about how your life would be if you had this or that - all you need to know is that you didn't want this or that, so you stayed with what you didn't want. If you did the same thing and got laid off, wouldn't you have done the same thing if you kne w what was going to happen? Probably not. Be grateful that you didn't get laid off - that's the only way you can grow in life.Next, take some time to reflect on why you are applying for the first job. You will learn this much by reflecting on your own life and experience. Was it that you got laid off? Or were you laid off for reasons beyond your control?Did you try to get another job before you lost your job? Were you even a little bit qualified for the second job that you applied for? Did you get laid off for something that was outside of your control? If you applied for the first job because you didn't want another job, you might want to make sure that the second job is not out of your control. There may be another reason for why you really want the job - you have the skills and qualifications to be the best candidate.Look for a reason to want to get this second job - perhaps you really did have skills and qualifications to apply for that job, but you just couldn't do it because yo u already had one. Your resume is a powerful tool to help employers figure out what your real reason for applying for the job is, so make sure that you use it effectively.Putting your resume to work by finding out the main reason why you want the job will help you get hired faster, and let you apply for a job for the main reason that you do - in this case, because you wanted the job! Your resume is a powerful tool in the unemployment process, so take advantage of it.
